The Atlanta Hawks used a dominating performance by popular G/F Kent Bazemore to win their home opener 111-104 over the stunned Dallas Mavericks.
Kent Bazemore had his best game ever scoring a career high 32 points and was electric on both ends of the court. Taurean Prince chipped in 24 more as Atlanta rallied from a 51-25 deficit to overtake Dallas and snatch victory from the jaws of certain defeat.
In the game within the game Mavs Luka Doncic and Trae Young battled to a stalemate. The two NBA lottery picks were traded for one another on draft day. Doncic was dominant early hitting double digits in the 1st quarter. After that he cooled dramatically.
Trae Young was the opposite starting slow with errant shooting. But the #3 overall pick in last year’s draft finished with 17 points and 5 assists.
This unbelievable win was fueled by 3 things that they will need if they want to be more than an afterthought this NBA season:
- Stellar play by Kent Bazemore
- An up tempo, yet loose run and gun style
If this team can do this consistently they might follow the footsteps of the Atlanta Braves young team and win NOW.
