Georgia creates havoc in the CFB world, and dashes the hopes of their fans with a stunning 20-17 loss to South Carolina at home.
For the Bulldogs it was the case (as in past seasons) the 4 ‘O’s’
- Overconfident – Georgia has played the whole season as if they had a bye into the CFB Playoffs. Slow starts, abandoning the running game too quickly, and mental errors. Mistakes that come when you take your opponent lightly
- Overrated – As much as I like Jake Fromme, the realities are that despite the numbers is not a QB that can carry his team to victory on his own. In fact when the UGA trigger man throws the ball more than 30 times, the Bulldogs are 1 and 5. On defense, this team makes big plays, but gives up a quite a few too
- Out coached – Head coach Kirby Smart is a reporter’s dream. Great back story as former star player coming back home to coach his alma mater. A good sound bite in most pressers, and slogans galore. However in critical moments Kirby has made curious decisions which have cost his team time and wins
- Outplayed – This might be the biggest problem, possibly tied to #1 in this list. South Carolina seemed to have more ‘want to’ The defense was stout when it had to be. The offense made just enough plays. Most compelling was the play of Gamecock DB Israel Mukuamu. With his 3 INT he was a 1 man wrecking crew.
It’s still possible for Georgia to get to the #CFBPlayoffs . But the road is much harder now thanks to the 4 O’s
