The Hawks are back in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals after beating the 76ers in a tense game 7 showdown. They beat the East;s #1 seed 3 times on their home court much to the dismay of the Philly faithful.

Atlanta was led surprisingly by the man the call “Red Velvet” Kevin Huerter. The 6’7 G/F was as smooth and delightul as the cake he’s named after. He stung the Sixers early and late with his hot shooting. He led Atlanta with 27 points, 7 reboundsm and 3 assists. John Collins was stout on the glass. He led both teams 16 rebounds getting a double/double as he also had 14 points. Danilo Gallinari had 17 points, and a huge steal off Sixers star C Joel Embid to help put the game away in the 4th quarter.

Trae Young had 21 points and 10 assists and a big 3 pointer with less than 2 minutes to play. However Young did not have one of his better games. He was only 5 of 23 shooting and had 6 turnovers. But he and his teammates did just enough to win and epic game 7.

The 76ers Joel Embid led all scorers with 31 points. Although he played heorically throughout the series, it wasn’t enough to stave off the surging young Hawks.

Next up for the Atlanta Hawks a showdown with the Bucks, who are ironicallly coached by their former leader Mike Budenholzer. He was at the helm when the Hawks won 60 games and last went to Eastern Conference Finals.

For Philadelphia the off season will will filled with angst, anger and qeations. Most of them may be for Head Coach Doc Rivers whose team loses a series that most thought they should win
