#Hawks vs #Cavs – #Lebron Triple Double, #KyleKorver has huge night in 123-104 win

11 Feb

The Cavs came into the game just after shaking up the entire NBA with a virtual house cleaning. They traded away several players including former All stars D. Wade and Isaiah Thomas.  The Cavaliers were now like Atlanta. Playing with team full of players that no one knew. The good sized crowd seemed distracted. The large contingent of Cleveland fans in attendance seemed to do nothing more than wait for the next Lebron James highlight.  Of course as he always does when he comes to Atlanta, James did not disappoint. He scored another triple double and had the crowd buzzing with several dazzling assists.

Former Hawk Kyle Korver enjoyed his return to Atlanta scoring 16 first half points including 3-5 from 3pt range. He then went 3-3 in the third quarter to open the floodgates and turn the game into a rout in the 4th quarter.  Korver lead all scorers with 30.  Jeff Green added 24 for the Cavs knockout down 3 of 4 from echinacea the arc.

The one bright light for the Hawks was PG Dennis Schroder. He was a problem for Cleveland slashing his way past the Cavs for 19 first half points to keep Atlanta in the game early. He finished with 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists

Hawks take on the Pistons who have added All Star F Blake Griffin in a trade with the Clippers. Atlanta does lead the ping pong ball chase in the lottery race. They again have the worst record in the NBA .

#NBA ruling on Draymond Green raises questions about its integrity

14 Jun

The NBA assessed  Golden State Warriors PF Draymond Green a flagrant foul that rules him out of playing in game 5 in Oakland. This unleashed outcry on sports radio shows and barber shops everywhere.

Why is Green called for a flagrant for a semi protective move against Lebron James who STEPPED over him after both players tangled up and went to the floor? Was this more offensive then the way he kicked up his leg and smashed into the groin of OKC’s Steven Adams?

This looks like a move to allow more favorable conditions for the Cavs to sneak off with a Game 5 win and send the series back to Cleveland. Poor officiating makes things seem suspect already. Now add league office intervention and something doesn’t seem right.

There is BIG money in sports entertainment and gambling is a multi billion dollar industry.

Just makes you wonder.

NBA Draft Day – Kevin Love to the #Hawks ?

25 Jun

The NBA Draft is here. For the Atlanta Hawks it’s a new day. They had a 60 win season, won the Southeast division, and reached the Eastern Conference finals. But that was last year. For 2016 the Hawks will play in a division that will be better than 2015. Kyrie Irving will back along with a determined Lebron James. Boston has 2 first round picks, and a team that snuck into the playoffs under brilliant young coach Brad Stevens. The Heat and Toronto have some good pieces. Wizards have the Wall and Beal show. So Atlanta’s ability to even go as far as this year will be tested.

A real answer could be found in free agent Kevin Love. He would address all 3 Hawk needs. Consistent rebounding. He’s a big man who plays at the 4 spot. He adds another excellent outside shooter to the arsenal. Kevin Love to the Hawks.

Just saying .

#James vs #Curry Shootout in 4th qtr is one for the ages #Warriors beat #Cavs to take 3-2 series lead

This game brings you back to some of the great #NBAPlayoff superstar showdowns. Lebron James scores 16 of his 40 pts, and Stephen Curry scores 17 of his 37 including 2 shots from beyond 30 feet from the basket. Golden State pulls away late in 104-91 win over Cleveland.

#Bird vs #Wilkins, #Russell vs #Chamberlain, #Kobe vs #Iverson, #Jordan vs #Malone. Now etch the names James and Curry. The time and place Sun June 14, 2015 at Oracle Arena on a clear summer night in Oakland, CA.

Only fitting that this shootout take place in the San Francisco Area where other gunslingers and gold miners plied their trade over a century and a half ago. Golden State now stand just 1 win from bringing home the Pro Basketball’s ultimate treasure…the NBA Championship trophy

Why #Warriors wont lose Game 4 of the #NBAFinals

12 Jun

The Golden State Warriors won’t lose Game 4 of the Finals because:

  • History-The Warriors have not lost 3 games in a row ALL year. After 2 game loss streak they win next game by avg of 13 points. They came back from 2-1 vs a Memphis team who played a similar physical style that worked temporarily in that series
  • Fatigue- Cavs have exerted extraordinary energy and even sustained some injuries. They may not the stamina to pull it  out
  • David Lee – The former All Star is back in Steve Kerr’s rotation. His scoring and rebounding over more minutes will make a difference
  • Steph Curry- The league MVP seemed to find his stroke during the furious comeback in game 3. He and Thompson are poised for big games

Hedging our bets. But one thing is sure. This has been one the best  #NBAPlayoffs in some time

Why the #Cavs won’t lose Game 4 of #NBAFinals

12 Jun

Lebron and Delly

The Cleveland Cavaliers will win game 4 and take a commanding 3-1 lead in the Finals because:

  • They are loose. Playing with house money because very few people outside of their lockeroom thought they would win a game. let alone be up 2-1, (Check out how J R Smith comes into the stadium on a hovertax HERE
  • They are confident. Lebron has made the entire team BELIEVE they are the best in the NBA
  • Lebron James. Setting new records and enhancing his legacy each game as ‘best player in the world’

We will look at why the Warriors can’t win HERE

#Warriors undone by two big 3 pt plays and another King like game from #James #Cavs win 96-91

10 Jun

Lebron James set another #NBAFinals record with the 40 points he tallied in game 3. He now stands alone for scoring most total points in 1st 3 gmes of an NBA Final with 123. That’s an avg of 41 points per game!

Even with those heroic exploits this game was really decided by 2 huge plays. James Jones 3 pt basket at .9 secs before the end of the 1st half to stretch Cleveland’s lead from 41-37 to 44-37  and the unbelievable Dellavedova basket and free throw when the Cavs were clinging to a 81-80 with time running out. The Warriors were on a tremendous run having cut a 20 point 3rd qtr deficit down to one.

Dellavedova’s basket and free throw was one of the many HUGE plays he made throughout the game. He set the ‘Hustle’ bar high and teammates followed by seemingly getting to every loose ball.

The Warriors however had the energy and body language of spoiled children who were told they could not have dessert because they didn’t eat their vegetables. Also Steve Kerr also looked as nervous and unsure on the sidelines as his team did on the court. The only real bright spots were Steph Curry seeming to find his shooting stroke in the 4th and the ‘discovery’ of former All Star C/F David Lee.

Lee was outstanding with 11 pts, 4 rebounds in 13 minutes.

Could David Lee @DLee042 be key to #WARIORSvCAVS #NBAFinals series?

10 Jun

David Lee is 6’9″ and 249 lbs. From 2009 – 2014 he averaged more than 18 points and 9 rebounds per game. Although not used much in these 2015 playoffs he is a proven, Top quality player at the C/F position.

He may be the antidote to Cleveland’s big men in the paint. Or will Steve Kerr, coach of the yr runner up, be out maneuvered by Lebron James like Coach Bud of Atlanta was?

Hawks win over Cavs a tale of 3 “N” s

8 Mar

The Atlanta Hawks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 106-97 in front of a SRO crowd at home. Phillips Arena was electric for the arrival of Lebron James and the public unveiling of the statue of Hawk legend Dominique Wilkins

In the end is was a tale of 3 N;s ‘Nique week, (Atlanta) Night Life, and New attitude

IMG_3174IMG_3186hawks win over Cavs

  1. ‘Nique week-It was the culmination of a week of honors for the man called the “Human Highlight. The charged up crowd again helped spur the Hawks to this win
  2. Night life- Like so many players do when they come to Atlanta it is alleged that LeBron was seen out a well known night spot in the ‘A’. He at times lacked energy, and seemed to be a bit tired….Just saying
  3. New attitude-The Hawks clearly have a different attitude. They believe they can beat anybody, anywhere. There is a confidence and resiliency that this team has that allows them to play from behind, and put away teams when they have leads

After seeing them twice in the last 2 weeks, we once again say the Hawks are now a favorite to go to and win the NBA Finals
